Transplant Coordinator - Bay Area
The Transplant Coordinator must be dedicated to supporting the mission of the California Transplant Donor Network to provide the opportunity to improve and extend lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation. The Transplant Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, strategies, and action plans related to the procurement and utilization of organs and tissues for transplantation, medical research, and education. These duties typically include immediate response to donor referrals, donor evaluation and management, providing families with the option of organ and/or tissue donation, coordination of organ recovery, donor family and hospital staff follow-up, coordination of organ recovery and preservation, and organ distribution as needed, in conjunction with other departments of CTDN as indicated. This position requires a proactive team player who must uphold the core values of the organization which include integrity, respect, honor of diversity, personal accountability, creative initiative, team work and excellence.
CLINICAL ACTIVITIES/DONOR EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT
The Transplant Coordinator must provide consistent and timely service to hospitals, donor families, and other transplant personnel in all potential donor situations. The coordinator must also possess knowledge of medical and legal principles of donor evaluation, consent, and management. This is necessary in order to effectively communicate with physicians and hospital staff involved in organ donation
DONOR FAMILY INTERACTIONS
Provides assistance/resources(s) to the donor hospital staff in the organ and tissue consent process. This includes discussing organ and tissue donation with the family, obtaining signed informed consent, pursuing donor intent as indicated by signed donor cards, providing information and follow-up letters to both the hospital staff and the donor family regarding the outcome of the donation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Required: Degree in registered nursing or biologic sciences or an equivalent degree/diploma/certification in an allied health field i.e. EMT/P or Respiratory Therapist.
Experience:
Preferred: Minimum of two years experience in critical care units or at least two years experience in transplant and/or organ procurement.
Certification/
License:
Equipment: Required: California State Registered Nurse license or certification as a Physician Assistant or allied health field e.g. EMT/P or Respiratory Therapist. CTDN requires Transplant Coordinators to maintain a valid California driver's license and current vehicle insurance based on California minimum insurance coverage standards.

Donation Services Liaison
Position Description:
The Donation Services Liaison (DSL) must be dedicated to supporting the mission of the California Transplant Donor Network to provide the opportunity to improve and extend lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation. The DSL is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, strategies and action plans to enhance organ and tissue donation within the assigned service areas. The DSL will also collaborate, as necessary, with the other departments within CTDN and with the local tissue banks in order to perform these functions. A. Establishes a hospital network-wide commitment to identify all opportunities that improve E,O,T donation and honor donor designation within the Transplant Networks service area. Seeks to improve each hospital's performance over its historic experience
B. As necessary, assists and advises CTDN staff in adherence to the standards and practices for quality assurance procedures established within the organization.
C. Develops a thorough knowledge of key hospitals including general hospital demographics. Develops working relationships with key personnel to ensure support of the necessary policies and procedures for organ donation.
D. Provides timely debriefing of hospital staff involved in the organ donation process in assigned hospitals. This includes, but is not limited to, problem solving, education and support as needed for mutual critique and review.
E. Have identified "go to" persons who are champions for E/O/T donation and donor designation on hospital units. Participates with these team in development of action plans
Qualifications:
Education: Required: Undergraduate degree in business health administration, marketing, and/or nursing and/or experience in other applicable fields.
Experience: Required: Candidates must have experience (in) that include, but are not limited to, sales and/or marketing; (or) public relations; (or) development of a non-profit organization; (or) management consulting and/or at least two years experience with an organ procurement organization.
Preferred: Experience within the medical community or hospital system.
Experience in collaboration, education, and negotiation with governmental regulatory bodies and key regulatory personnel

These demands require the DSL to be detail oriented and proficient in reading documents, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, verbal and written communications skills, and presentations such as PowerPoint presentations, and the ability to change priorities.

A. Education: The Assistant Donation Services Liaison will:
1. Develop a thorough knowledge of key hospitals including general hospital demographics. Develops working relationships with key personnel to ensure support of the necessary policies and procedures for organ donation. Serve as coordinator with designated hospital medical records departments
2. Assist DSL team with input for strategic planning for assigned hospitals.
3. Update hospital profiles with current contact information for assigned hospitals.
4. Provide basic organ donation education to assigned hospitals in collaboration with ASST DSL team. Produce PowerPoint presentations that are appropriate for internal use and for external hospital audiences
5. Provide summary reports of all professional education evaluations.
6. Work on-site as needed in assigned hospitals
7. Provide assistance to community outreach staff with hospital community events including supplying materials, coordinating volunteers and attending events.
B. Hospital Development: The Assistant Donation Services Liaison will:
1. Manage the DRR process, including but not limited to obtaining hospital death lists, scheduling reviews with hospital medical records departments, and compiling DRR results in assigned hospitals.
2. Enter death log statistics into database. Review/compare deathlog data to database and determine need for onsite chart review.
3. Conduct onsite chart review at assigned hospitals.
4. In collaboration with DSL manager determine organ donor potential for assigned hospitals.
C. Administrative Duties
1. Participate in committees and taskforces for strategic planning and special projects.
2. Maintain complete and accurate business and expense reports.
D. Professional/Personal Competencies
1. Takes an active interest in increasing own knowledge base in areas which pertain to improving hospital services/development.
2. Maintains appropriate level of knowledge of end stage organ failure, or recovery, donor maintenance, transplantation, organ preservation through appropriate organizations and attendance at education seminars.
3. Actively participates in opportunities to advance knowledge of organ procurement and transplantation, hospital development and public education.

Supervisor of Materials Management

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Supervisor of Materials Management:
A. Ensures optimal staffing in the Materials Management Department at all times.
B. Provides daily management and support to Materials Management Coordinators.
C. Oversees the implementation and use of Materials Management policies and procedures and related forms.
D. Develop and maintain par levels of clinical supplies necessary to facilitate tissue recovery procedures at all Tissue Services offices located throughout the region.
E. Provides daily supervision and guidance to Materials Management Coordinators to ensure that four Tissue Services offices are equipped with an appropriate amount of clinical supplies to facilitate tissue recoveries at that particular location.
F. Ensures competency of Materials Management Coordinators through a variety of methods including: orientation, continuing education, real-time evaluations and annual competencies.
G. Manages all ordering of tissue clinical supplies from vendors.
H. Maintains records of all incoming supplies.
I. Monitor the functionality of all surgical equipment and facilitate repair/cleaning as required
J. Daily monitoring of the clinical refrigerators and freezers to ensure specifications are met.
K. Review current vendor contracts, analyze costs and identify more cost effective opportunities for securing resources.
L. Solicit and negotiate new supply vendor contracts when appropriate
M. Work with Tissue Management team to ensure compliance with all industry, state and federal standards.
N. Maintain regulatory compliance in matters surrounding lab safety, handling of biohazard materials, etc at all Tissue Services locations.
O. Works with manager to review yearly spending and to propose budget requirements for the following fiscal year.

Manager of Tissue Operations Center

Tissue Bank Coordinator
Position Description
The Tissue Bank Coordinator (TBC) must be dedicated to supporting the mission of the California Transplant Donor Network to provide the opportunity to improve and extend lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation. Primary responsibility includes responding to tissue recovery cases during scheduled on-call periods, providing the technical support for all aspects of tissue recovery. The TBC may be required to assemble required supplies, drive CTDN vans to and from recovery sites and gather equipment for clinical recoveries. The TBC performs other clinical support related responsibilities during times when on-call without the possibility of pending events. This position is split between on-call and regularly scheduled office hours.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Participates in the tissue recovery schedule as set forth by Tissue Recovery management.
B. Performs surgical dissection of tissue(s) for transplant and/or research in accordance with CTDN SOP's.
C. Screens potential donors from coroner offices (if applicable) in a timely manner and report all potential donors to Donor Consent Group.
D. Assists materials management and donor information departments when needed.
E. Attends regularly scheduled technical meetings and CTDN staff meetings.
F. Provides leadership and basic on-site supervision to tissue recovery teams while actively organizing the team members and team transportation.
G. Conducts all necessary communication with recovery team members, Tissue Coordination person on-call, Tissue Administrative person on-call, and hospital staff to ensure proper set-up and completion of all tissue recovery cases.
H. Performs and documents a thorough physical examination of all potential tissue donors.
I. Responsibly and accurately reviews tissue donor informed consents, medical history and behavioral risk assessment questionnaires, and relevant medical records to successfully identify information pertinent to CTDN and/or CTDN's processors donor criteria policies, including plasma dilution assessment.
J. Maintains business records, including donor charts. Insures security, confidentiality and availability of records in compliance with CTDN and outside regulatory policies and procedures.
K. Provides on- the- job training to new and existing tissue recovery staff per CTDN training plan.
L. Completes and submits required documentation for all clinical activity and follow-up including but not limited to:
1. Collection of accurate and pertinent donor information
2. Completion of all appropriate donation documentation forms.
M. Coordinates and facilitate timely shipping of diagnostic samples, tissues, and medical records to appropriate laboratories or processors.
